Fortnite, as it usually does
The trend has the challenge skins first introduced in Season 4, which need you to complete seven complete weeks of struggles to unlock and constitute the maximum difficult-to-acquire skins from the game. We"ve had three of these so far, two of which are an alien and a robot. And yet when you look at those skins they are pretty clearly built on the basic male model, even though they may or might not be explicitly man. We have seen a robot constructed off the female version from the match earlier, and A.I.M. isn"t that.
That means that we have had 9"achievement" skins in the sport: the top-tier of the skins that you get through drama rather than an easy buy, even when they do require a battle pass buy. And each of those has been man or male-coded. It"s disappointing, again, because Fortnite does not do this bad on balance elsewhere: a lot of the most interesting and popular skins in the sport are female, and nearly every superior skin is published as both genders outside of special cases like Guan Yu and Wukong.
There is still an opportunity for this year: the Snowfall skin may be female or female-coded, though the shape does not seem to point to that. Until then, we are awaiting the moment when the skin that someone spends all season unlocking is female: when a participant sees off an enemy in the space and thinks twice before fighting them due to their feminine skin they"ve got on.
Fortnite, as it usually does, kicked Season 7 away using just a tiny movie. Christmas-themed this moment, with stop-motion Rankin and Bass-style film showcasing a nice little winter scene until everything goes south.
